The quality and value of any stone is evaluated on certain parameters.

• Origin -

  Pink Sapphires were exceptionally rare and only found in a few countries across the globe i.e. Sri Lanka, Myanmar and East Africa. In 1998, new deposits were found in Madagascar slightly increasing the availability of the stone. Pink Sapphires from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) are the most desired and the rarest Sapphire Padparadscha (orangish pink stone) is also mined there.

• Colour -

  Pink Sapphires range in colour from pale pink to vivid magenta. Most stones also have secondary hues of the colour red, purple or orange. The most sought after Pink Sapphire is the hot-pink or bubblegum-pink Sapphire which has a rich pink hue with purplish red overtones. Another Pink Sapphire that is highly desired is the rare Padparadscha which has an orangish hue.

• Clarity -

  Natural inclusions such as fingerprints, rutile, negative crystals, line growth and color zoning are quite common in Pink Sapphire. Pink Sapphires without any eye visible inclusions are very rare and valuable.

• Cut -

  Since Pink Sapphires are extremely rare, they are mostly cut in round and oval shapes as least wastage is involved in the cutting process. Highly faceted and fancy cuts such as cushion cut, marquise and heart shape are more valuable.
